Conference Hall, Municipality of Aksakovo

Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA), Project Partner 6 in the IDRON – Innovative Dual sustainable solutions for Rural water scarcity and use OptimizatioN project, is pleased to invite representatives of local authorities, businesses, agricultural producers, local organisations and other interested stakeholders to participate in the IDRON Stakeholders’ Meeting, to be held on 21 August 2026 in Aksakovo, Bulgaria.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to learn more about the IDRON project, its objectives, implementation progress and innovative approaches for addressing water scarcity and improving the sustainable use of water resources in rural areas. Particular attention will be given to the Bulgarian pilot territory in Aksakovo Municipality, which participates in IDRON as an Associated Organisation.

During the event, participants will be introduced to the first findings concerning water scarcity in rural areas and the Bulgarian context, as well as to the planned IDRON pilot activities in Aksakovo. The pilot approach envisages the use of UAV/drone technologies equipped with multispectral and thermal sensors to identify dry areas, monitor vegetation health and support the detection and assessment of surface-water resources.

An important part of the meeting will be dedicated to an open stakeholder discussion on local needs, challenges and opportunities. Participants will be invited to share their experience and views on water availability and accessibility, irrigation needs, existing local water resources, investment and infrastructure constraints, crop resilience and expectations regarding the implementation of the IDRON pilot in Aksakovo.

The meeting aims to strengthen cooperation between the project team, local authorities, businesses and other stakeholders and to ensure that the innovative solutions developed and tested within IDRON respond to the real needs and conditions of the pilot territory.
