Installation of New Weather Sensors in the Schoolyard of “St. Kliment Ohridski” Secondary School – Aksakovo!
As part of the RE-ACT School Project – “Transforming Schoolyards to Combat Climate Change and Promote a Healthy and Active Environment,” the schoolyard of St. Kliment Ohridski Secondary School is being turned into a pilot site for innovation and a sustainable future.
In September, six automatic Meteobot® weather stations were installed, equipped with various sensors to measure:
- rainfall amount
- air temperature
- relative humidity
- wind direction and speed
- atmospheric pressure
- particulate matter (dust)
- radiation temperature (thermal emission)
As an additional feature, the implementing company provides the Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) option – a measure of thermal stress that indicates when the body is exposed to excessive heat and cannot cool down effectively. This is crucial information for students’ safety and an important step toward preventing health risks such as fatigue, dehydration, or heat stroke.
Through this project, St. Kliment Ohridski Secondary School becomes a model for sustainability and care for the future of our planet.
